The Jomolhari treks have several optional routes. Yet, most of those old treks and few other trek routes are partially spoiled or lost their charm due to the influx of modernization like the electricity poles erected along the trails and the construction of motor roads in some areas. So in July 2019 under my initiative in collaboration with one of my friends and 7 guides ventured through some untouched areas just within a week to discover a new trek. As a kingdom nestled high in the Himalayas have a lot of scope for many more new treks to discover.
This newly discovered trek route just a few years ago will take you really off the beaten path. The trek traverses exotic alpine scenery like; snow-capped mountains view, untouched campsites, exotic grazing lands, wildlife, alpine flowers, waterfall, lakes, etc. If you trek in the mid-summer you will see many unique species of alpine flowers including the Blue Poppy abundantly and the rarest Pink Poppy as well. Also, the locals believe that the Yetis or the Snowman used to exist in ancient times quite below the present Dhula camp due to the exotic and thick forests in that area. That’s why this new trek is been named “Mystic Yetis Trail Trek”.
And finally, the trek will pass through the giant and one of the most sacred lakes, Dragye Pangtsho located high above Tiger’s Nest with the scenic view of the mountains and deep valleys. This new trek really revives our few centuries-old exotic trekking experiences which we almost lost.
