Due to the harsh winter conditions in most parts of Bhutan, the high altitude treks are closed. However, we can conduct a few short, low-altitude winter treks with low passes and sub-tropical forests. Unfortunately, some of our former winter and high altitude treks have been ruined due to the effects of, modernization like the construction of motor-vehicle roads and installation of electricity.
Therefore, Bhutan Travel Adventures took the initiative to find new high and low-altitude treks so that we can offer our guests the unique essence of trekking in almost any season. One of our new treks takes you over the old Sinchula Pass (3280 m), an ancient trail used mainly by the people of Kabisa village who reside in both Punakha and Thimphu. The trek also goes to the giant, sacred and beautiful Kabji Hokotsho Lake which lies above Bhutan’s former capital; and it passes through a thick sub-tropical forest with rich plants and bird life.
Depending on the season, you could enjoy the unique Druk Wangyel Festival with the back-drop views of snow-capped mountains before starting your trek.
