Bhutan International Marathon, 01 March 2025
Bhutan’s International Marathon usually occurs on the first Saturday in March every year. We have arranged the Marathon group annually from many countries in the last 10 years. During this event, you run through the sub-tropical forest connecting the rustic villages of the old capital, Punakha and then proceed through the basin of the beautiful Mochu River until it ends at the massive and historical Punakha Dzong. After the marathon, you could hike to the popular Tiger’s Nest on your last day with some sightseeing through the Western region – one of the best times of year to visit Bhutan.
It’s a time when the skies are blue and clear, with pleasant weather almost every day along with great views of the mountains with some snow on the passes. You can choose the Marathon, 42 km/26.2 miles, or the Short Marathon, 21 km/13.1 miles. The trip booking should be made at least 2-3 months before your arrival so that we can secure flights and provide good hotels. This is particularly necessary in Punakha, as the hotels fill up far ahead of the Marathon.
In addition to the Tour Package Cost, there is an extra registration fee that supports Bhutan’s sports community as mentioned below:
Marathon Registration Fee: USD 175 p/p
Half-Marathon Registration Fee: USD 125 p/p
